OUGD502 - A Design Strategy: Here

Link

Here Design is a small team of multi-disciplinary designers based in East London. The studio was set up in December 2005, by Kate Marlow, Caz Hildebrand and Mark Paton.
Since then we have been crafting quietly powerful design for a client list of individuals, brands, charities and institutions that we believe in wholeheartedly.
Our collective experience includes design and strategic thinking for branding, packaging, print, publishing, point-of-sale, products and websites. This scope allows us to create effective and original solutions to work across any media.

I came across Here while trying to find some more studios across the country in which I really liked the look of and would like to potentially get a placement at or visit during the next yet.

I really like Here as they do a lot of different stuff, but their style of work is very obvious and very consistent, but appropriate for each brief. Their use of type and colour is something that interested me, and a couple of their designs are ones that I have seen, and actually own (the Nigella books), so it was great to see something that is commercial and from quite a small design agency.

None of their work is available to save/redistribute, and annoying each individual brief page doesn't have its own website address, so it is hard to show the work that I particularly like. I will write a quick summary of them.

The Geometry of Pasta
Here design seem to do a lot of things for cooking, and have quite a few cook books under their name, and this is the one which I really liked because it isn't a typical cook book in the imagery that is used. Instead of full colour photographs, simple vector images have been used to represent the pasta.

Solid ID
Solid ID is the new venture from the people behind bespoke flooring company Solid Floor. Here designed their branding, print and packaging and their website. It is all very simple and uses just two colours + stock.
